St. Lawrence Post Office and Shop (Locally known as Duggletons)
Set at the heart of the Village, the post office has stood on its present site in Spindlers Road since the fifties, having previously been at Maple Cottage in Seven Sisters Road, when it was run by the Warne sisters, and before that at The Cliff in Spindlers Road. It is now run by Doug and Janet Nettleton.
The shop is well stocked with: newspapers, milk, groceries, fruit and vegetables, alcohol, sweets and ice cream, greetings cards and post cards. Doug and Janet always aim to please and are very well known in the Community. They also produce The Village Chatter, a free monthly mag for the village.

The shop:

The Real Island Food Company
Since July 2007 Rachel Foy and Jackie Phillips have been delivering local produce islandwide. We’ve been having food delivered from them since last year and the quality of food provided is far superior to what you’d find in the supermarket. Whilst there are still a few things you may need the supermarket for, once you’ve tasted local meat, poultry and vegetables, you’ll never go back to having pre-packaged, plastic food that’s been flown from half way around the world spending god knows how long in storage, before being put on the supermarket shelves.
The thing we noticed the most is the quality of the meat. Really tender and tasty – our favourites have been fillet steak, shoulder of lamb and pork loin joint. The site is regularly updated with new products being added, depending on what is in season and wherever possible is produced on the island.
The service you get from Rachel and Jackie is second to none. Good old fashioned delivery-with-a-smile, to your door. Any problems are very quickly sorted and in fact, they encourage feedback, both positive and negative. They also do Welcome Packs for holiday cottages. Delivery in St. Lawrence is usually on Fridays between 2-3.30pm but see www.realislandfood.co.uk for details of delivery in full. Why not check them out?
